I wanted to do therapy. I especially love marriage therapy.
Why did you choose BYU’s social work program?
There is so much flexibility in jobs after graduating.
What are your career goals/aspirations?
One never knows what opportunities will present themselves however, doing counseling part time and Hospice work part time is one thought.
BYU’s focus on a spiritually strengthening educational experience?
I have loved my time at BYU. Having attended several schools outside Utah, it was both a relief to not have to constantly stand up for my beliefs as well as enjoyable to be able to talk in class about how our values relate to our future work.
Tell us about your BYU internship experience(s)
My first internship was perfect. I worked for Wasatch Mental Health’s WATCH (homeless) program. I had the opportunity to do a lot of individual therapy. I had 31 clients who had Schizophrenia, ADD, Bi-polar, Depression and Anxiety, etc. I mostly did Cognitive Therapy but also some Dialectical Behavior Therapy. I also co-led an Anxiety group.
